Camp Rhythm
For new and early musicians, 6th grade and up! $130
JUNE 10-14, 2024. 9-2 Daily, Friday night showcase
Camp Rhythm is an introductory camp teaching the basics of worship and worship instruments. Camp Rhythm is offered as a half day camp (9-2) daily for one week. The cost of camp includes snacks, lunch, t-shirt and all music instruction.
Camp Rhythm is designed for new and early musicians starting at 6th grade. Students will have significant time early in the week on all of these major instrument areas, Keyboard, Bass, Drums, Guitar, & Vocals. By end of day two students will focus on one main instrument in preparation for a Friday night Showcase of learning.
Camp Rhythm students are invited and encouraged to sign up for Camp Rock as well! It will be a great time of deep worship with peers, study of the theology of worship, and continuing to gain skills. Those who have shown quick grasp of their focus instrument and practice in the month leading to Camp Rock may be able to continue with that focus. But tech, drama, and worship art will all be available to campers of any skill level in Camp Rock. It will be a Spiritually and artistically enriching time.

MiniMAC is a half day camp (9-1) daily that is designed for preschool and early elementary children. Singing, dance, puppets, rhythm instruments and the ukulele. All in preparation for 2 Sunday morning performances.
The miniMAC campers will participate in a variety of activities and games. The children will all learn the songs and motions to the songs, they will also experiment with movement, rhythms with drumsticks, and learn the basics on the ukulele. Your child will also learn daily Bible lessons and teachings on their level, while making new friends.
With the minimal cost of $130 for the week, the value of this camp is amazing. Your child will receive excellent instruction from professionals who teach in an encouraging and Christian environment. Your child will meet new friends and build confidence through performance opportunities. The cost of camp will cover snacks, lunch, a performance tee shirt, a ukulele, and materials needed for the camp.
Dr. Tom Bartlett is a degreed musician and the executive director of the summer camps. The associate director, Paige Bartlett is excellent with children and a talented young musician. Mr. Larry Skipper, a well-known and longtime Wilkes County music teacher and specialist with younger musicians, will teach ukulele. Brittany Stillwell will assist in teaching biblical lessons.

Cost $160 (student who choose the guitar breakout must provide their own guitar, keyboards will be provided to learn on.)
The camp that started them all! MAC is a day camp (9-4) for one week. The campers will sing, dance, create art, learn tech, photography/videography, and puppets (traditional and black light). The children will be able to check out each area and choose one area of focus. Together the children work toward the weekend performances, (3). Friday night and two Sunday morning performances. The campers also get to choose between basic introductory guitar or keyboard. Your child will also learn daily Bible lessons and teachings to strengthen their faith while making new friends.
With the minimal cost of $160 for the week, the value of this camp is amazing. Your child will receive excellent instruction, meet new friends and build close relationships. The cost of the camp will cover t-shirt, snacks, lunch, and materials needed for the camp.

What will my student learn?
Camp Rock is a worship camp for teens (6-12 grade) and college students that focuses on a biblical theology of worship, music theory using the Nashville Number System, and weekend worship concerts. NEW THIS YEAR, basic proficiency of chosen instruments will be necessary to choose that area of specialization. Art, drama, and tech will remain open to beginners. Beginner students interested in an instrument may sign up for Camp Rhythm on June 10-13th.
The students choose an instrument or vocal, technical, art, or drama and work toward their three worship concerts on the weekend. Early in the week each student is assigned to a band and works with an adult leader to prepare for their worship set they will bring on the weekend.
They will also focus on a primary worship instrument, drama or technical area. Areas offered:

Times For The Camp
The camp runs from 9am-4pm daily Monday through Friday July 22-26, 28 with a performance schedule Friday night July 26, and Sunday morning July 28.
What does the $175 cover?
Your student will receive excellent instruction, a full day, every day of learning, snacks daily, lunch daily, a camp tee shirt, and the experience of a lifetime! Also included are guest artist concerts and teaching. (limited instruments available to learn on. Drums and keyboards provided at camp.)
Are Non-Celebration Members welcome?
Yes, and you are encouraged to come and learn!
Does the student already need to know how to play an instrument?

Michael J. Roulette Scholarship Opportunity for Camp Rock
The Michael J. Roulette scholarship fund was established this year in honor of Pastor Tom’s nephew and former student and former Camp Rock instructor, who passed away in 2022. A limited number of full or partial Camp Rock scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance. Applicants will first read the following bio on Michael. In 200 words or less, please tell the scholarship committee why you are deserving of a scholarship, and please include one thing about Michael Roulette that you found personally inspirational. December 28, 1985 – August 22, 2022
Friend, gentle soul & musician
Michael is the nephew of Pastor Tom Bartlett and has helped in music training and Camp Rock in Maryland. Michael was a gentle soul and kind to everyone. He didn’t know he would love music so much, but after spending time with his uncle and family in FL one summer, he went home with the basics of drumming and a drum set. That summer set Michael on a path to learn and play music. Michael pursued not only the drums but also keyboards and vocals. In time Michael studied music at a local college and became an instructor at Bach to Rock school of music in Maryland. This fulfilled a lifelong dream of sharing his music with young players. While Michael was raised in a Christian family, it wasn’t until his latter years that he made his faith an integral part of his life. Christian music, especially from groups like DC talk was instrumental in his faith formation. Michael passed on to heaven one night after teaching and on his way home. A respiratory issue caused him to pull his car over, ensuring no one else could be harmed by his vehicle. There in his car parked, he left this world for his eternal home. There was a plan to bring Michael to Camp Rock 2023, but he passed before that could happen. A scholarship in Michael’s honor and memory has been established to help young musicians grow in their skills and faith.
